World War II Vet Honored

World War II was one of the most tumultuous times in the history of this Earth. The generation who survived, also known as “The Greatest Generation” helped forge the landscape for the world we live in today. Any time we can take time out to appreciate the sacrifices made by servicemen in the United States Armed Forces we should. Memorial Day is one of those opportunities to reflect on the events and people shaped by World War II. The government finally acknowledged one of the heroes involved, a man named Wencel Bohr who served in the Air Force and was involved in the first bombing run into Tokyo on August 8, 1945. He survived the raid as a B-29 bomber despite his plane being struck by flak.

Apple Valley High School Wins 4A Championship

Only one team in the state of Minnesota gets to call themselves champions of the 4A boys bracket. This year, Apple Valley High School is the champion of the biggest class (4A) in the state and was led by one of the state’s best players. In the championship, Zach Goring’s squad comfortably defeated Park Center 74-57. The Apple Valley Eagles finished their conference a perfect 18-0 and finished 29-1 overall. Winning the tournament was expected with the team being the number one ranked team in the state. The Eagles were led by guard Tyus Jones who led all scorers with 28 points. Farmington High School Goalie in Trouble

Many people browsing their social media accounts or their favorite news feeds last week saw the viral hockey video of Farmington goalie Austin Krause pushing the puck into his own net in defiance of his head coach. The deliberate own goal tied the score late in the game between Chaska and Farmington. Chaska went on to a 3-2 victory. The flare of this story comes from Krause skating off the ice after the own goal, flashing his middle finger at his coach, and saluting the bench.
